Good, but not publishable

To those who feel more cultured than the rest of us.
You glorious ex-Europeans,
you eminent imminent emigrants,
and those who follow your aura.

We, the people of the country in which you live,
are grievously sorry that
everything that has made us who we are
has obviously just been something you've been forced to tolerate
for all this time.
We know its not easy,
to live in this sad place,
where our buildings are not historical,
where our green, rolling fields
are few and far between.
We apologize
that this isn't Rome
or Geneva,
though you can kindly find them
on the other side of the ocean
if its so important to you.
